MUCH ADO ABOUT "MUST HAVES"

They say style is about “being youself”. Then why must everyone possess those much hyped “must haves”? Why must every girl own an LBD? What if she looks stunning in a white crochet number? Why do they say a guy can never go wrong in a white shirt and denims on his first date? What if his date ends up thinking he’s got no style of his own and goes with the flow?
Its time we break away from the conventional and follow our own rules. So grab your card, get out and get yourself something you really like, keeping in mind the fact that it has to fit within your budget and of course must fit YOU! Don’t buy something that will burn a hole in your pocket ‘cause you are gonna be sorry once the excitement dies down. It still surprises me when adults want a certain kind of outfit or accessory only ‘cause “so and so” on TV’s got it! And we try to reason out with little kids who demand stuff for the same reasons. Funny, isn’t it?
Don’t let so called “style icons” dictate terms to you. Get an individual style. Something that defines you. Get your hair styled and cut the way you think looks best on you. Not curled or ironed according to whatever the current trend is. And just ‘cause every guy’s got a goatee, it doesn’t mean you need one too. When every other guy’s sporting the long haired look, shave your head! Set the trend for the rest to follow. Wear something YOU want to see yourself in, not something others want to see you in. If someone’s need to see you in a particular outfit is so “urgent”, let him/her buy it for you.
What I’m trying to say is don’t buy something ‘cause it’s the “must have” of the season. Think. Must YOU really have it?
So the next time you see someone clad in something you think is out of fashion and you’re on the verge of saying, “That is soooooooo not ‘in’ this season.”, BITE YOUR TONGUE! Instead of criticizing, appreciate the person for making his/her own style statement. Don’t be a hypocrite after saying fashion is about “being yourself”. Get away from the conventional and get your own style statement.

With the least fear of sounding repetitive, I quite boldly write this yet again - similar thought. I have always been dumbstruck by how needy people react to what SRK or any other big star wears in a film for precisely 2 minutes.

Or, it is an excuse I give to cover my rather poor sense of styling. But, then, it fits me and gives anyone an essence of my simplicity (I do not intend to blow my own horn). Umm, I will not be surprised with people terming it boring too. Still, alternatively, it showcases my conservative behaviour. So, yea, it fits and reflects me.

Frankly, this sums up the main theme of your blog, doesn't it? "Me, myself and I".
